Update - March 14, 2006

March 14, 2006

We worked very hard over the weekend into Monday. Here is our report:

1. The Support forum is “Structurally” complete. It will need sprucing up as we move on. Yahoo Contextual Ads have been integrated into the Forum Templates and Portal Blocks –Unfortunately, we notice that Yahoo is still not as adept as Google in targeting ads. We will monitor them on a ‘wait and see’ basis.

2. In our other phpnuke portals, we have never had an integrated RSS feed for the inbuilt phpBB forum. Well, we hunted for one and bumped into a this fabulous script: rdf-nuke.php, which works flawlessly, thanks to Karakas Online –Good Job! Anyone interested can now subscribe to two separate feeds originating from Afro Articles Portal: Portal News and Forum Topics. Very pretty indeed!

3. Finally we managed to work out the kinks in the Article Dashboard software. It’s now working flawlessly and so far we have posted two test articles, and are busy modifying the templates, navigation system, category hierarchy and adding basic content –a very tedious task. It may take another week to get it right.

4. We have also created a new ring: The Afro Articles Ring in the WebRing system. Over the years we have received a reasonable stream of traffic from our 7 rings comprising of 350+ sites…. and growing.

The work continues…stay tuned!

Hello Blogger!

March 9, 2006

Welcome to Afro Articles Blog. This is the first post after our fresh install on 03-09-2006. Afro Articles is still a work in progress.

We will be posting a chronology of the installations and modifications we make in this website as we move one. This is a test template (Simple Blog), and we are still looking at others. Hopefully we will settle on one soon.

We are also experimenting with Yahoo Ads, right now the number one competitor to Google’s successful Adsense program.

The main part of the website, the article content section is still not functional as we work on the software bugs.

The Portal section is installed and functioning at 50% capacity. More features will be added in the near future.

All in all, exciting things are in the pipeline for Afro Articles. Be on the lookout!
