US Only Chance for Victory in Africa: Ogaden's Independence – Dissolution of 'Ethiopia'

Due to the overall deterioration of the situation in the Horn of Africa area, the Islamist extremist fever risks spreading throughout the area, turning the various oppressed nations' struggle for Independence, Democracy and Development to a frontal battle of African Islam against the West as Christian Club. This ominous development can still be averted, if Human Rights are placed at the epicentre of America's African strategy, and full proof of American impartiality is well demonstrated.

There are several documents on which America can base its policy shift, after understanding that only Right is Might. The Ogaden Human Rights Committee issued on August 8th a devastating Report on Ogaden that leaves no doubt about the inhuman and illegal character of the Tigray Abyssinian oppression carried out there by Tyrant Zenawi's criminal thugs. This valuable document should become the tool of American's policy shift.

US has nothing to fear except the fear of Ogaden's cruelly massacred people

The most urgent task for today's American diplomacy is to assuage the fear and to alleviate the agony of the Ogadenis by replacing the 'Ethiopian' soldiers (as impersonated by Tigray thugs who are committed to mass extermination with the same determination as neighbouring Sudan's Janjaweed) by UN soldiers.

The termination of the illegal occupation of Ogaden by the racist, terrorist forces of the bogus-'Ethiopian' tribal Amhara – Tigray tyranny will be America's really first Victory in Africa.

Eradicating the fear from the hearts and the minds of the oppressed Ogadenis will herald America's real rise in power within the context of African power, as it will trigger a solid alliance with a Muslim Nation that will be fully recognizant for America's insistence on Human Rights' respect.

In a series of articles, we published integral parts of the all-inclusive and absolutely appalling Report of Human Rights' violations perpetrated by the Abyssinian Occupation forces in Ogaden, a most critical province of 'Ethiopia', bordering with Somalia, where the presence of the Abyssinian dictator's soldiers has triggered a real Civil War, boastingly promoting the Islamic Courts of Justice (a local annex of Al Qaeda).

In a series of seven articles, entitled 'Top US Concern in Africa: the Ogaden Human Right Committee Report', 'Ogaden Human Right Committee appeals to the International Community', 'Kick the Tigray Murderous Tyrant Zenawi out of Ogaden!', 'Zenawi is far worse than Mugabe; admit it!', 'Zenawi's End: a Panic to Few – a Heaven to almost All', 'Warning to Petronas: Stay out of Ogaden, and deal with the ONLF, not illegal tyrant Zenawi!', and 'Ogaden: Litmus Paper for the Kinijit Amhara aspiring tyrants of 'Ethiopia'', we published the Executive Summary of the Report, the ensuing Recommendations and Appeals, the Background of the oppression policies pursued by the Abyssinian forces, further introductory parts concerning the Starve Out policy, the Depopulate and Scorched Earth policy, the deriving Ecological Damages, and the first chapter of the Main Part (Human Rights Abuses).

We will dedicate several additional articles to this valuable document, as we are strongly convinced that Africa's most loathsome dictator's appalling crimes in Ogaden must become the premier concern for any civilized and democratic society in Europe, America, and throughout the planet.

In the present article, we republish integrally the chapter about Forced Disappearances. For anyone searching for additional information, we fully recommend the valuably documented website of the Ogaden Human Rights Committee (www.ogadenrights.org).

Forced Disappearances

A large number of people have disappeared after being abducted by members of army and security forces, while others disappeared from notorious military detention camps, or were transferred to secret detention centres in Harar, Addis Ababa or Ziway. The fate and whereabouts of those people remain unknown to their loved ones. In many cases they are presumed dead.

According to Principles on Detention or Imprisonment, principle 12 and 16 (1); SMR rules 7, 44(3) and 92; Declaration on Enforced Disappearance, Article 10(2 and 3); principles on Summary Executions, principle 6; a record of every arrest must be made and shall include: the reason for arrest; the time of the arrest; the transferred to place of custody; the time of appearance before a judicial authority; the identity of officers involved; precise information on the place of custody; and details of interrogation. Furthermore, the UN Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances requires the authorities to take effective action to prevent disappearances, including holding persons in officially recognized places of detention, and making information concerning the place of detention and all transfers known to families, lawyers ... (Article 10(1+2), and ensuring releases of detainees under circumstances that permit verification of their release and conditions (Article 11).

However, many members and suspected ONLF sympathizers have disappeared in detention without leaving a trace.

On June 22nd 2007, in Gocondhaale and San-Cadde, Ethiopian armed forces detained, beaten up and blindfolded Farah Khalif Hamud, Ahmed Aidid, Muhumed Nur Khalif, Asad Arab Yusuf, Nur Mohamoud, Ali Gas and Deq Ibrahim. They were taken to an unknown destination. Since their detention their families and relatives have no information about their whereabouts.

On June 19th 2007, in Qabridaharre, Ethiopian security forces took Mustafe Ahmed Sheikh from his house. Since then his whereabouts are unknown to his family.

Mohamoud Abdirahman and Faseh Yusuf, who were in one of Dhagaxbuur detention centres, were reportedly disappeared, on July 12th 2007. According to their family members and relatives the fate of the two detainees is unknown. And they were not given any information about the whereabouts of their loved ones.

On April 21st 2007, in Madax-Maroodi, Ethiopian armed forces arrested Abdi Urur Farah, Abdiduh Moallin Abdi, Kad Abdullahi and Mohamed Abdi Fidin. They were transferred to military barracks and never seen again.

In Karin-Barkhadle, Sagag district, on 14th April 2007, members of Ethiopian armed forces arrested Hussein Mohamed Adan and Yusuf Sheikh Ahmed, two nomad pastoralists. They were beaten up, blindfolded and then transferred to Sagag military barracks. Since then their whereabouts are unknown to their loved ones.

On May 15th 2006, in Qudhac-Maydal, Fiiq district, Ethiopian government forces looted private properties, and then took with them the following individuals: Wali Bade Salwe, Mohamed Abdi and Mustafe Abdullahi Adan. Since then, their whereabouts are unknown to their families.

In San-Cadde, Dhagaxbuur district, on May 21st 2006, members of Ethiopian armed forces abducted at gun point Badri Muhumed, Abdi Muhumed Nur, and Ahmed Mohamed, all nomad pastoralists who were tending their camels in the area. They have not been seen since then.

On May 19th 2006, in San-Xaskulle, Ethiopian armed forces arrested Farah Ma'ruf, Abdullahi Mahdi Mahbub and Jamal Ahmed Abdi on suspected membership and sympathy for the ONLF. They were transferred to military barracks in Dhagaxmadow. Since then their whereabouts are unknown to their families and relatives.

According to reliable reports received by the OHRC, many detainees disappeared in 1990s, are being held in secret detention centres in Harar, Addis Ababa and Mekele.
