Somaliland – the Shame to Flush Out

By: Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis

As I receive many letters from Somali readers, living in different parts of Somalia and Ogaden or in the Diaspora, I have an extra opportunity to understand how people assess the various local developments, react to adversities inflicted on them, and at times defend their illegal interests.

I have been astounded because of the great number of enthusiastic mails that I have received from Ogaden, Somaliland, Maakhir, Puntland, Southern Somalia and from Somalis living abroad.

As sort of counterweight, I received some low level insults by the uneducated gangsters around Riyale, the puppet of the Abyssinians, whose days are numbered. In addition, I came to crosscheck that Riyale has paid high salaries to some of his otherwise jobless notaries, who started writing exclusive trash in order to attack me personally…..

In the middle stand some Somalis of the Diaspora, particularly from California, who – undeniably patriotic – demand the immediate withdrawal of the Abyssinian thugs, reject the secessionist attitude of Riyale, but do not want to see Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed win the first free and democratic elections in the History of Somalia.

It is clear that through all my texts I support the perspective of a pacified, reunified Somalia engaged in progress, freedom, development and – before all the rest – concord, tolerance and national compromise. Whenever I express a harsh criticism, I want to make this crystal clear, I address it against the mistakes of some people, their erroneous attitudes and mentalities, not the people themselves. I always believed that all the people are born innocent; I reject the concept of the generational sin.

To make all this clear I will publish the mails I received from two different Somalis living in Somaliland; the first mail is written by a Somali patriot who shares the common Somali indignation against Riyale's high treason and tyranny. Simply, he mistook my criticism as directed against the entire Somali population, all those who have been incarcerated in the territory under the control of the criminal tyrant Riyale and his gang. It is a good opportunity for me to make things even clearer. However, I am glad to read that Mr. Kaid Diriye characterizes Riyale's subordination and servility to Abyssinia as 'disgrace'.

The second mail is due to someone who knows me very little and read my publications even less; he is actually convinced that I would be happy to see Somaliland in bloodshed, which is not true. I believe that it would be normal to establish a sort of provincial administration in a place where peace prevails and then expect the other Somalis to join and re-establish a unitary Somalia with a democratic and eventually federative constitution; at the same time, I believe it would only be a matter of due respect to the 4 millennia long Somali History to close the Somaliland – Abyssinian border, to deny port facilities to the Amhara and Tigray rulers, who ceaselessly machinate against Somalia, and to display magnanimity and offer help to Ogadeni refugees. I will publish the two letters separately and after each of them I will publish my answer.

Somali Graduates from 'Ethiopia' Defense College: a National Shame to Flush Out

On the other hand, I am delighted to find some news, read reports, and go through articles that quasi-automatically give the correct answer to some of the negative mails I received. That is why at the end, I will republish a report that I came to notice in a Somaliland portal a few days ago.

This ominous news consists in the best corroboration of all my accusations of the Somaliland tyrant for high treason. The shameful text, written by an accomplice of the criminal dictator Riyale, reveals that among the high ranking gangs of Hargeysa some have sent their children to study in and graduate from the so-called “Ethiopia Defense College”, which consists in a sort of headquarters of anti-Somali racism, hatred and revenge.

This text is my best answer to those who attack and insult me; if anyone, they have to attack the shameful graduates and the people involved in this affair which consists in high treason, the most anti-Somali act in the History of Somalia.

Who can possibly send the elite of a country's youth to the Military Academy of the historical enemy of the country, except a high traitor?

Who can send young Somali students to study in the Anti-Somali Center of Enmity, Revenge and Venomous Odium, except the most ashamed Somali traitor of all times, Tyrant Riyale?

The time of the article 'Congratulations to Somaliland graduates from Ethiopia Defense College' demonstrates how urgent it is to remove the cancerous tumor of the Riyale gang from Hargeysa and allow the Northwestern Somalis to build their peaceful, free and democratic future in the only country where a place is reserved for them: Greater Somalia.

Mail from Mr. Kaid Diriye

Dr. Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis,

I read about your academic background and there was no one else that I could admire more than you. I have to depend on your resume rather then knowing you personally and may be I will have the opportunity to see you lecture somewhere.

However, the reason I decided to jot a short email to you is that I was so disappointed to read few article in which you take down Somaliland regime.

There are number of issues that I agree with to Z and one of them is the latest which members of the government are so happy to go to Addis Ababa to learn from the Ethiopian parliament. It's a disgrace to our history but what can you do.

However, your article degraded the people of Somaliland not the regime. This nation I do believe are the real Somalis and they love and respect the norms of Somalism. It's unfortunate that you believe the shadow rather then the tree and that creates a feeling of disagreement with your beautiful academic background. Your article was about falsehood of so called Somaliland but it came down to insult and reporting a minor unrest in the country.

At least why don't just see the other side of the coin. Somaliland people or Northerners as you may prefer were abused and brutalized by their own brother and sister just few years back before the greater Somalia collapsed. To categorize us as the destroyers of the nation is unfortunate and your academic level deserves zero in that zone. Again no matter how highly you are educated, you cannot preach me about my past experience in my country.

I know what I passed through and Know the differences in between. I also know why our beautiful nation is in disarray. To conclude this I hope some one other than you wrote this article and used your name and picture because I believe your reasoning goes way higher than this shady article. If What I said is true my apology to demise your name. Thanks Doctor.

My answer to Mr. Kaid Diriye

Dear Kyaid,

Thank you for your time and mail.

I am glad to see that you totally disagree with practices involving servility and submissiveness toward Abyssinia.

On the other hand, I don't see in what part of my text I degraded either the Somalis in their entirety or even the Somalis of Somaliland.

Most probably, you misread the text, and that's why I would like you to send to me any part of my text that you feel it contains improper references to the Somali people of Somaliland.

As you say, I believe that they are in their outright majority patriotic Somalis, who hate the Abyssinian interference in the Somali affairs, and the Abyssinian invasion of the Somali South.

No, I do not think that the Northwestern Somalis are 'the destroyers of the Somali Nation'; only the current Somaliland regime acts betraying the national Somali Cause.

No, nobody wrote any of my articles, but still I don't know for which one you are talking about. Would you attach the link?

Regards,
Shamsaddin

Mail from Mr. Khadar Duale

I lost today the last piece of respect I had for you, Mr. Somali-expert wannabe,

I am really astonished to understand about your abhorrence toward Somaliland government and above all the people. I am some one who was born in Hargeisa and have all my folks in there. To criticize is ok and you are free to do so as long as it is constructive and you are not inciting violence.

But your recent article is doing the later. You are wishfully enjoying the bloodshed, destruction and the pain of my people and that is something all Somalis should condemn. We have lost too many of our people in wars and wish not to lose anymore. That is why Somaliland was created and that is why we had a lasting piece for almost two decades and hopefully many more decades to come.

As I comprehended from your article you hate Ethiopia and that is why you attack Somaliland? Are you troubled to attack Ethiopia administration directly? Because they are internationally recognized state and they can legally cause detriment to you?

I recon someone told you before and I am urging you again today to leave the Somali problems for Somalis or is this how (the only way) you earn your bread? How can you insult a entire nation? That is not rational thinking and it is bigotry and insularity.

I do not understand why you claim to be an expert in Somali affairs. Do you take drugs or chew Kat? Is that how you gather your misinformation about Somaliland? Because normal human been with dignity would not write something biased and blatant as this.

My answer to Mr. Khadar Duale

You cannot have a future separate from that of Somalia!

Wake up!

Your end is nigh!

Try to deliberate with all the other Somalis!

Finally, please know that I attacked Abyssinia far more extensively because they deserve it, and I did so for all the factors of Neo-Nazi Abyssinian racism, colonialism, and expansionism, from Zenawi to Qinijit.

And I am not afraid to carry out all that it takes to break Abyssinia to pieces.

They can do nothing to me.

Convey the message to these useless Hargeysa gangsters with expiry date.

Congratulations to Somaliland graduates from Ethiopia Defense College

It is great pleasure to hear that a group of young Somaliland graduates, who had completed their education program at Defense College in Ethiopia specializing in engineering fields such as communication, electronic and mechanical.

Let me say to such young graduates that you have successfully completed your first degree studies and you are now ready to begin the next chapter of your life and work for your country, which in my opinion is the greatest honour anyone can achieve.

I share with Somaliland people the excitement and joy that your graduation has brought on us and we, as a nation, are proud of you.

Unlike your homeland, studying in abroad is a very difficult task because of different environment, culture and people.

It is a well known fact that the majority of people who choose to pursue higher education enjoy higher quality of life than those who don't.

The fact that you graduated this year from one of the best universities in Ethiopia is testimony to your own hard work, determination and purposefulness.

While you will not be greeted by a perfect world because of the prevailing high rate of un-employment in Somaliland, I am very confident that you have the skills and grace to overcome whatever obstacles that you may encounter in the future.

Somaliland people, who have been waiting you for a long time, are very proud of your achievement and warmly welcome you back in Somaliland.

I give you my best wishes and congratulations vis-a-vis your graduation.

Finally, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Ethiopia government for its generous scholarship; equally, I congratulate the Somaliland government for the support it has been rendering to this batch of students.

Last but not least, many thanks to your parents who sacrificed their life so that you -their children- can gain better education for yourself and for the country.

Long life Somaliland
