Somalia – Another Division or the Beginning of the Re-unification?

After 17 years of fratricide conflict, distrust and foreign involvement, one great Somali alliance, the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia (ARS) seems on the brink of division, after the recent irresponsible statement made by Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys. Is it truly bad or unexpectedly augur?

According to Shabelle Media Network that spread the news through numerous Somali and African websites and many web portals around the globe (notably: http://www.ayyaantuu.com/Oromiyaa/NewsBlog/tabid/36/EntryID/2323/Default.aspx) "Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, one of the Reliberation of Somalia Alliance, has declared that the organization is scheduling to replace Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed from the chairman of the group into another new leader although he rebuffed to mention the name of the successor. In an interview with Al-Arabiya Arabic TV he declared that they were planning to take a decision on to strip sheikh Sharif from his post of the ARS".

"He sullied the laws of the group, so we cannot put up with him to include in our group" Aweys said.

Sheikh Aweys failed however to specify what these "laws" (supposedly sullied by Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed) are; no one knows these secret laws of Aweys' and certainly their validity does not go beyond the small circle of the few colleagues left to the sheikh.

Sheikh Aweys failed to specify in whose name he spoke, whom he represented, and why he pursued a divisionary stance against his Chairman, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.

Even worse for him, he failed to specify why and in what Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed "sullied" these unspecified and illusionary laws.

Sheikh Aweys is a Somali and a Muslim; he is even a sheikh, a religious authority. He is certainly a patriot who wants to liberate his country.

No one finds the US accusations of Sheikh Aweys as a terrorist as convincing; even the Americans who composed these irrelevant documents know that nothing can be substantiated against him.

Nothing; except a total failure of political character.

At a moment, Abyssinian racist soldiers rape, kill, and torture Somalis in Southern Somalia, carpet bombard towns in Ogaden, support breakaway regimes of high treason and apostasy in Somaliland and Puntland, Sheikh Aweys finds the need to defend…. Eritrea.

• - When your country is under occupation, rather limit yourself in commenting developments in your country and in denouncing the invader!

• This is the golden rule of political success. The rest is superfluous. But the word ‘success' is unknown to Sheikh Aweys. He is able to make in the most improper time the most impertinent comment.

• - If, at a moment your country is under occupation, your leader makes a comment about another country, even if you disagree, shut up!

This is the golden rule of political survival. But the word ‘survival' is unknown to Sheikh Aweys. Who would pay attention to him, if Eritrea did not support him? Nobody. He would be forgotten.

Sheikh Aweys wants to say ‘thanks' to Eritrea; but he cannot say ‘thanks' to another country by damaging his own. The price is too high and the attempt is too contemptuous.

But Sheikh Aweys cannot understand all this, as he cannot understand politics. He is inherently unable to imagine that in politics you don't say what you like or what you believe in but what serves a purpose and an ideal, a principle and a value that you stick to.

By acting so, Sheikh Aweys demonstrates that his value is not ‘Somalia' but ‘Eritrea'. This is too much of a self-annihilation of a politician.

One can draw a multitude of examples from the World History; during WW II, among the French Resistance, and notably the Bureau Central de Renseignements et d' Actions which was organized by Charles de Gaulle against the Nazis, there were conservatives, liberals, Catholics, socialists and communists. However, none of them produced a friction by opposing General de Gaulle on a fictive subject about the role of Soviet Union in the French Resistance movements.

National unity always prevails over support of, and sympathy for, a third country – especially at the times of foreign invasion and occupation.

As Sheikh Aweys cannot understand politics, he is not able to evaluate the repercussion of his acts and the reverberation of his statements.

It is part of Somali, African and global common sense and average understanding that, in the advent of the ominous and pathetic statement of Sheikh Aweys', one person rejoiced incommensurably.

A few fanaticized and besotted followers of political impasses may eventually think that the person to rejoice was president Afeworki of Eritrea, who attacked by America, isolated by many, engaged in ceaseless wars with neighbors, finally got a compliment from such an influential statesman, the openmouthed sheikh.

Yet all those, who set the foundation of their analysis and consideration on a deep understanding of an act's consequences and a comment's resonance, realize very well that there have been some fellows who rejoiced far more than the Eritrean president. These are the foremost beneficiaries of the naïve sheikh.

Who benefits from Sheikh Aweys' thoughtless nonsense?

A primary examination of the subject lets us conclude that all the enemies of the Somali Nation, all those who want to implement the recently revealed plan of Somalia's multi-division, have been very happy with one more Somali division – announced by the naïve sheikh.

These guys consist in the Neo-Nazi constellation, apparent in Abyssinia (the racist regime of the Tigray tyrant Zenawi), and hidden in America (all those who support the Neo-Nazi Dictator Zenawi because they don't dare express their Neo-Nazi, Anti-Black, Anti-African ideals openly in America): the dear interlocutors of Jendayi Frazer and the comical pseudo-scholar Peter Pham, the US-based Amhara Abyssinians who are the aspiring tyrants of the racist and totalitarian Amhara Abyssinian party Kinijit and their followers.

Yet, there are some people who see even farther; and they are happier than Jendayi Frazer, Cannibal Zenawi, Frank Donatelli, Crypto-Nazi Peter Pham, and Communist Dictator Mengistu's Associate, Hailu Shawul, the leader of the totalitarian Kinijit party.

These guys find Sheikh Aweys' farcical sentences as the beginning of the end for his political ‘career' and involvement in the Somali politics. They see the inexperienced sheikh deeply engaged in an effort that is relevant of puppets. All the people who want a great future for Somalia start realizing that this will be achieved without Sheikh Aweys, who certainly would be excellent in a position of Eritrean ambassador at Mogadishu.

Before this happens, Somalia will be liberated, the Abyssinian army will be removed, and the breakaway, illegal states of Puntland and Somaliland eradicated. The great effort will be undertaken by almost all the Somalis, and the global friends of Somalia, without the benevolent help of Eritrea, and without the presence of Sheikh Aweys.

This great effort will be led by Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. And it will bring forth the long demanded Success, Peace and Unity in Africa's most flamboyant Nation, Infinite and Eternal Somalia.
