Down with Racist, Neo-Nazi 'Ethiopian' Tyrant Zenawi – Justice for the Anuak

In an overwhelming rejection of the politically condemnable and morally criminal decision of Jendayi Frazer to invite and/or to tolerate the visit of Omot Obang Olum, the notorious Anuak High Traitor and Criminal, to America, the Anuak Justice Council issued a Statement permeated with Biblical excerpts that highlighted the moral standards of the fighters for Anuak Secession from the Neo-Nazi Hell of the friends of Jendayi Frazer – in striking difference from the evil policies of America’s most disreputable administrator who will face charges for having allowed Genocides against African Christians and Crimes against the Mankind to be perpetrated in Africa’s most shameful and appalling racist tyranny, Neo-Nazi Abyssinia (Fake 'Ethiopia').

In prominent contrast with the castigation expressed in the Anuak Justice Council Statement, the daily press briefings of the State Department June 2nd and 3rd offered by State Department Sean McCormack reveal the moral collapse of America, a sign that heralds the end of that otherwise great country. This irrelevant – but considered as governmental 'responsible' – fellow spoke about his vicious stories against Zimbabwe and yet had nothing to say about the Anuak High Traitor and Genocide Planner Omot Obang Olum's visit to America.

Sean McCormack and Jendayi Frazer will pay dearly for their viciously inhuman attitudes and behaviour. This is not a threat; it's a conclusion of historical character. Not a single person in the World History was freely versed in iniquity as much as the two administrators have been - without being severely punished. No one should forget this absolute reality that applies at all times. I republish here the Anuak Justice Council Statement, and its moral antipodes, the daily press briefings of the State Department June 2nd and 3rd; in other words, the 'good' and the 'evil' documents. You are free to compare and judge.

Un-elected Gambella Governor: The Choice is Yours--Exploitation or Apology? (http://www.anuakjustice.org/080530TheChoiceIsYoursExploitationOrApology.htm) - May 30, 2008

The Anuak Justice Council wishes to make it known that the Director of International Advocacy, Mr. Obang Metho, will not be attending the meeting with un-elected and illegitimate Omot Obang Olum in Minneapolis on Saturday, May 31, 2008 or in Calgary, Canada on June 7, 2008 because it is not seen to be a legitimate venue to address the human rights crimes committed against his own people, the Anuak, over the last ten years.

The AJC is open to a genuine dialogue in the future under a legitimate structure that would include truth and accountability for crimes committed against the Anuak and other Ethiopians. We have been working for over four years to bring truth, justice and reconciliation and see this meeting to be a likely obstruction to that process.

We would caution any attendees to be aware that your participation in the meeting may be manipulated to the advantage of the current oppressive regime of the un-elected and illegitimate Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi, who continues to perpetrate similar crimes elsewhere in the country and into Somalia.

Instead, in the last weeks, Mr. Metho and the AJC have been working hard to stop un-elected Governor Omot Obang Olum from entering the United States as he is named as a prime suspect in the massacre of 424 Anuak leaders on December 13-15, 2003 and included countless human rights crimes against the Anuak that preceded as well as followed the genocide---extra-judicial killings, disappearances, rape, beatings, torture, detentions and the arrest of many political prisoners, some which still remain incarcerated.

In actions meant to silence opposition in 2002, he is named as being responsible for the five years of false imprisonment of the former governor and 45 Anuak leaders. Many refugees in Sudan, Kenya and elsewhere still are fearful to return to Gambella.

The United States has policies about admitting such criminal suspects and we are doing our best to warn them and to provide all the supporting documentation, of which there is a significant amount from highly credible sources such Human Rights Watch, Genocide Watch, Survivors' Rights International and the International Human Rights Clinic at Harvard University.

We are also attempting to arrange for news coverage of the event should Governor Olum be given admittance into the United States.

We strongly contend that the evidence against him regarding committing crimes against humanity, should be heard in a court of law, not in a tightly controlled meeting that will steer clear of these primary, but volatile issues.

The wounds from the Anuak are still bleeding. Simply covering over these wounds will not heal them. A genuine process of healing and reconciliation must include truth and justice, but it is extremely unlikely that first steps towards such an outcome would be undertaken. Why is this?

It is clear from the last meeting on April 26th when an advance team of Gambella's EPRDF team came to Minnesota to meet with the Anuak, that the purpose of the meeting was to sway people to forget about the past and to instead, work with the government.

This meeting is not expected to be any different in repressing the truth and strongly avoiding the heart of the problem—the genocide and other human rights crimes. The last meeting was tightly controlled and questions regarding the genocide of Anuak leaders and the countless human rights crimes committed were not answered. Misinformation was given regarding development that we know to be untrue.

The Anuak attendees' hopes that there might be some admission of wrongdoing from these government delegates, leading to a genuine dialogue, were dashed. Instead, the Anuak listened to propaganda—mostly in Amharic—and had no real opportunity to ask the questions that were most on their minds.

As to be expected, simply coming to the meeting was interpreted in the Ethiopian media as Anuak support for the government. This was later evidenced on the website controlled by the Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Walta information, where they reported four to five times more people attending the Minneapolis meeting than actually did and reported that the Anuak in the Diaspora were now willing to move ahead to work with the government.

However, this does not mean that un-elected Governor Omot Obang Olum could not publicly take the higher ground and admit to his wrongdoing. Anuak would love to be so surprised—if it were deemed honest and sincere. Former President of Ethiopia, Mr. Negassa Gidada did so before the Oromo Community meeting in front of many hundreds of his fellow Ethiopians last summer. The effect was overwhelming due to this unexpected confession and is still rippling through the community as an example of accepting responsibility for one's choices. If Governor Olum would do this, it might be the opening to forgiveness.

"He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy." (Proverbs 28:13)

If he does so and wants to meet or if the Ethiopian government in Gambella or in Addis Ababa genuinely seeks a dialogue to address the genocide, human rights crimes, the destruction of property and reparations, the Anuak Justice Council should be officially invited to do so. However, justice for the Anuak will not be sustainable until there is justice throughout every region of Ethiopia and we will not rest until that time comes—God willing for God is our only real hope and deliverer! May He open the way!
"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."
(Proverbs 19:21)

ZIMBABWE

- Continuing Pattern of Intimidation by ZANU-PF
- Runoff Election Should Allow People to Vote Free of Intimidation
- U.S. Embassy's Focus on Zimbabwean Elections

TRANSCRIPT:
12:34 p.m. EDT

MR. MCCORMACK: Good afternoon. No statements to open up with, so we can get right to your questions. There being no questions, we can – (laughter).
Yes, in the back. You've been waiting patiently, sir.

QUESTION: Yes. Can I ask something different?

MR. MCCORMACK: Yeah, please do.

QUESTION: Africa and – I just want your comment, perhaps, on the latest developments in Zimbabwe, where yesterday afternoon two opposition leaders, one Mr. Mutambara, who is supporting Mr. Morgan Tsvangarai in this run-off, were arrested by the Zimbabwean police. No charges were laid against them. They are just locked in the cells.

And second, can you also comment on the Zimbabwean police banning two rallies in Matabeleland that were supposed to be addressed by Mr. Tsvangarai, and they told him that he can only have those rallies after the run-off, which will be useless for Mr. Tsvangarai.

MR. MCCORMACK: There is some faulty logic in that, I believe.

QUESTION: (Off-mike.)

MR. MCCORMACK: Anybody who believes in democracy. Let me put it that way.

It's troubling, it's disturbing, and it's part of a continuing pattern on the part of ZANU-PF to try to intimidate those who would like to speak up with views different than those held by the government. It's another example of the intimidation that we have witnessed. And it is incumbent upon us as well as other members of the international system to apply as much possible pressure and leverage as we possibly can to see that a run-off election is executed in such a way that people can actually vote their conscience, that they can vote for the candidate of their choice, that people are able to do so in an environment free of threat and intimidation, and that candidates have an opportunity to use the media, use whatever public media they would like to use to get out their message so that people can understand the platform, the values and the person for whom they're voting.

QUESTION: Can I just quickly follow up?

MR. MCCORMACK: Yeah, go ahead.

QUESTION: Do you have contingency plan since your Ambassador has been given a last warning that should you say anything that doesn't go well in Harare, he will be booted out of that country? Do you have contingency plans that you'll have alternative people who will be your ears and eyes on the ground?

MR. MCCORMACK: Well, we have a whole Embassy of people who are focused either in whole or in part on issues related to this election, and we are going to continue to speak out. We're going to continue to be a voice and beacon for freedom.

QUESTION: Thank you.

TRANSCRIPT:
12:51 p.m. EDT

MR. MCCORMACK: Good afternoon, everybody. Let's get right into your questions, whoever wants to start off.
Yeah.

QUESTION: Do you have anything on the negotiations in Sudan, where Richard Williamson has told reporters that the United States is suspending these because neither side is interested in peace?

MR. MCCORMACK: He's --

QUESTION: Or suspending their participation in these? Yeah.

MR. MCCORMACK: I understand he's interested in trying to stay there a day longer to try to see what he could do to help the two sides come together. There has been a lot of violence recently. An example of a small incident spiraling into something more major recently in Abyei, which, again, is a key part of resolving the entire question of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. So we want to make sure that that process moves along again. Ultimately, it's going to have to be the two elements of the government, the north and the south that come together and actually fully implement the CPA. And that's what he was going to try to accomplish. I think he said he was going to stay there a day longer than he had planned, but I – you know, I have not spoken to him recently.

QUESTION: Do you mean that he'll stay until tomorrow or --

MR. MCCORMACK: That's my understanding, yeah.

QUESTION: And to try to --

MR. MCCORMACK: We want to see what we can do to help the situation. We have a strong interest, along with other members of the international system, in seeing that Comprehensive Peace Agreement implemented. Ultimately, though, it's going to come down to the will and dedication of the two parties, the signatories of the peace agreement.

QUESTION: Do you know what – I mean, the story that we had signals, you know, some frustration on his part. Do you know anything more about the detail of what's been going on?

MR. MCCORMACK: I haven't – again, I haven't spoken with him. You know, I don't want to try to interpret his remarks, but, you know, it's a hard issue. It hasn't been solved yet. We want to see it resolved. Yes, sir.

QUESTION: Yeah, a question – wanted to get your comments on Zimbabwe and the suspension of CARE, specifically, if the United States is viewing this as an effort by the government to deny food aid to opposition supporters.

MR. MCCORMACK: Well, I don't – you certainly couldn't define the motivations of the government in taking this step, you know, and one I would note that was taken while President Mugabe is at the UN World Food Security conference taking place in Rome. It just shows a hardened indifference on the part of the Zimbabwean Government to the plight of its people. This is – Zimbabwe is a place now that is a net recipient of international food aid and, quite frankly, couldn't feed its people without that international assistance. That is a far cry from Zimbabwe's proud history as a net exporter of food. It used to be one of the breadbaskets of Southern Africa.

And the practical effect, as we understand it, of banning CARE and not allowing them to do their work, is that 110,000 people or so will not get fed. That is a tragedy. It is a cruel irony that this is taking place while President Mugabe is in Rome feigning interest in the issue of food security.

QUESTION: Thank you.
