I would like you to meditate on this for a moment. As you sit there and read this article, a stream of information is coming in through your eyes. But you are also absorbing different sounds, experiencing bodily feelings like the force of the seat touching your buttocks and back, the touch of the clothing on your body, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also in receipt of sensations via your nose in the form of aromas. And of course, you're receiving data in the form of the mixture of tastes on your lips and in your mouth.

And what about the emotional sensations that you are currently feeling? That's also data that you're currently processing. We live in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost anything and everything that a person could ever want to know is only a few clicks of a mouse away.

I recently read an editorial that said that even in a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. And that is happening sixty seconds out of each and every minute, and sixty minutes out of each and every hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for our entire life.

And happens to be a big part of the dilemma. We are all being tormented by "information overload." And that makes it very difficult to memorize all of the data that we want to remember or need to be able to recall.

Quite often, when we are reading, we discover that our eyes have been traversing the sentences on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent. When we get to the bottom of the page, we become conscious of the fact that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious memory of what we have just read. That's because our mind has been somewhere else mulling over a problem, or working out a scheme.

Today it's an every day occurrence to hear even young people state things like, "I'm having a senior moment." No matter what your age, and whether you are a student, part of the labor, or a retired person, I'm sure that you understand what I'm talking about. In our chaotic world it is all too often extremely difficult to focus your concentration.

SO WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING IS YOUR PROBLEM?

A. Your mind starts to wander as you read, and then all of a sudden you appreciate that you don't possess the slightest idea what you've been reading.

B. When you are in a social environment and new acquaintances are introduced to you, you forget their names as rapidly as you hear them.

C. You recall that you have a job to do in another room; but as soon as you start to go to the other room you totally forget what that task is.

D. You can stay alert and take in new information. But when you take an exam, "Test Anxiety" overcomes you and causes a mental block, and you are not able to recall the answers to the questions on the exam that you really know.

The biggest cause of a student's inability to focus their concentration is tension. And the biggest cause of a mental block to recall is also tension. So it stands to reason that the more relaxed a person is, the better they will be able to focus their concentration, absorb information, and then be able to recall it at a later date.

Today, memory enhancement through hypnotherapy has become a popular topic. That's partially because hypnotherapy is an exceptional instrument for creating relaxation. In fact, the very essence of hypnosis is relaxation. And as the mind becomes quiet, the ability to keep the mind focused increases. Similarly, a serene mind increases the facility to retain information, and remember it when it is needed.

Self-hypnosis memory improvement is a fantastic modality for eliminating test anxiety. There are several hypnotic techniques that can be used to program a student with a positive expectation of relaxation, self-assurance, and achievement while taking examinations.

Anyone can take a course on how to apply self-hypnosis quickly and affordably in the privacy of their own home by ordering hypnosis CD's. You can find more information on hypnosis to improve memory and recall in the Hypnosis Article Index located on my website.
